AUDIOBOOK MONTH CHALLENGE!

DAY ONE: Set up my goals

Last year, I teamed up with a small group of narrators called @bossbabesvo, and this summer we decided to get out there and join in the fun to share our craft and love for Audiobooks! I'm normally terrible at keeping up with these social media post calendars but I'm gonna do my best for this one 😅

My goals:

• Finish recording an audio series

The How to be a Necromancer series by DD Miers & Graceley Knox is nearing an end. Grave Magic released last month, and Grave Chance is the fifth and final installment to that series. It’s my second ever series to wrap up, and I think it’s going to be amazing but a bit sad at the same time, considering I have truly enjoyed working with them on this, as well as becoming the voice of Vexa and her cohorts. The first four are on Audible now! Check them out if you’d like to dive into a brilliant Urban Fantasy RH.

• Minimum of One Audition per week

At the moment, I haven’t done much in the way of auditioning. I’ve been booked for a few series so I… “got comfy” cruising through. However, when I looked at my calendar, I was shocked to see that if I stay on track, the work is starting to trickle off with series wrapping up! I’m going to commit to doing at least one per week to keep practicing outside of the work I have and hopefully nab one of the dream projects in the future.

• Record for super secret project…

As stated, it’s secret! But once it’s ready to be known, I will most definitely share here! I can’t wait, and it’s been hard to maintain my secrecy.

• Listen to books for myself, and some done by my peers!

(Yes it is reading 😜) There’s been argument over whether or not listening to audiobooks is still reading. Honestly, it is. As hectic as things can be, and my attention span not what it used to be, I learned that I absorb books so much faster when listening. Audiobooks are reading, and there, I said it. I haven’t given up on reading on my own, either. I’d love to curl up with a book when I can squeeze it into my schedule!

I highly recommend : HEAVY LIES THE CROWN series, beginning with Woe of Shadows, promoting this since it’s my latest in audiobook listens!

• Connect with more Narrators & VO Artists🤗

I have been fortunate enough to connect with my peers at the moment, linking up via instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Both in the wide world of VO and in the arena of narration, there are some fabulous people to work with and learn from. If you haven’t already seen, I am a part of the BOSSBABESVO team, a small collective of female narrators who get together monthly (when we can) to share our experiences, guide each other through the process of narration, and network with people outside of the group. Feel free to follow us on IG as we’re going to use #JIAM to link up and post!

• Record 3 new books!

Right now, I’m in the process of recording 3 books. The super secret one, Book 5 in How to be a Necromancer, and a new series within the Shadowlands universe by Mila Young. 3 is the goal, but 4-5 is my next benchmark. Whatever I don’t hit, rolls into next month! With summer upon us, my schedule has to change. Being a Californian, it heats up in the early hours of the morning so my afternoon sessions became morning schedule now. And since I’m a night owl… that’s gonna be the true challenge.

• the ever-dreaded cleaning/organizing office & calendar

I think that says it all right? I’ll be re-working my space (before starting a new project of course) but definitely keeping track on my calendar for the next book, and the ones to follow.
